Apple will replace some USB-C cables because of a 'design issue'

USB-C cables have run into yet another stumbling block .
Apple has announced a worldwide replacement program
for the USB-C cable that it shipped between April and
June 8th of last year. The cable was released alongside
the 12-inch Retina Macbook and also sold separately at
the Apple Store. According to Apple, it's possible for the
cable to fail without warning due to a design flaw. "As a
result, your MacBook may not charge or only charge
intermittently when it’s connected to a power adapter
with an affected cable," Apple says.

The company has already corrected its mistake and has
been selling fixed USB-C cables for months, but early
MacBook buyers may be stuck with a bum one. If you gave
Apple your mailing address when registering your
MacBook, you'll receive a new cable by the end of this
month. Everyone else can either make a Genius Bar
reservation, visit a local authorized Apple service provider,
or contact Apple customer support. And if your original
cable failed and you bought another one, you may be
eligible for a refund. You can identify which USB-C cable

More Young Breast Cancer Patients Getting Gene Test

Researchers found that of nearly 900 women who developed breast cancer at age 40 or younger, most had undergone BRCA testing within a year of their diagnosis. And the percentage went up over time: By 2013, 95 percent had been tested, according to findings published online Feb. 11 in JAMA Oncology. Experts called the results good news, since BRCA testing has long been recommended for women diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 50. "This is great, it's heartening," said Dr. Jeffrey Weitzel, director of clinical cancer genetics at City of Hope, in Duarte, Calif. But, he added, women in the study were largely white, well- educated and had health insurance -- and it's unlikely that disadvantaged U.S. women would show the same high rate of BRCA testing. WeChat accounts cross one billion mark, says CEO Pony Ma

BEIJING: WeChat’s worldwide accounts have crossed the one billion mark, according to the chief executive of its parent company Tencent. The all-in-one app is a daily necessity for most Chinese, bringing together messaging, social media, mobile payment, games, news and other services. "WeChat’s worldwide monthly active users have surpassed the critical one billion mark," CEO Pony Ma said Monday on the sidelines of China’s parliamentary session underway in Beijing. "In the future we hope to use technological innovation to push forward the next developmental step of reform and opening," Ma said. He was referring to China’s economic liberalisation policy that has fuelled four decades of breakneck economic growth.
